Courts.tennis is a reference site. There is no account to make, no form to fill in, and nothing to buy. You can read every page without telling us anything about yourself.
What is stored before you choose
One cookie is set the first time you arrive, before you have answered the cookie banner. It is called t1_aid. It holds a random identifier, it lasts a year, and it exists so that repeat visits can be counted as one reader rather than several. It is not linked to a name, an email address or a phone number, because we hold none of those for this site.
If you arrive on a link that carries a campaign or referral code in the address, a second cookie called t1_src records where you came from, for the same length of time. It stores the code from the link, not a history of where else you have been.
We are telling you about these plainly because they are set whatever you choose in the banner. If you would rather not keep them, clear this site’s cookies in your browser, or block cookies for this site.
What is stored only if you accept
Accepting the cookie banner turns on two things. Google Analytics, which tells us which pages get read and roughly where readers are, and our own measurement of how a page is used: how far it was scrolled, what was clicked, whether something was clicked repeatedly because it did not work. That second one records the shape of the visit and never its content. It does not read what you type, and it does not record your screen.
Decline, and neither runs. Google still receives a basic record of the page view with no cookie attached, which is used only to count traffic.
What we never collect here
- No name, email address or phone number. There is nowhere to enter one.
- No payment details. Nothing on this site is for sale.
- No text messages. This site does not message anyone.
- No recording of your screen or of what you type.
Who else sees it
We do not sell anything about you. The site runs on hosting and database providers who process this data on our behalf, and on Google for the analytics described above. We will hand over information if the law requires it.
The court facts themselves
Everything this directory publishes is about places, not people. Court counts, surfaces, floodlights and locations come from the City of New York where it publishes them, and from sources named on each page. If you believe something here is wrong about a venue, please tell us and we will check it against a source.
Changes
We will change the date above if this policy changes, and we will not quietly widen what is collected without saying so here first.
