West Side Tennis Club
1 Tennis Pl, Forest Hills
Five surfaces in play: grass, clay, Har-Tru, DecoTurf and synthetic grass.
Getting on a court
Not one of the City’s permit courts, so a Parks tennis permit is not what gets you on. Access is on the venue’s own terms: check with them before travelling.
History
Founded in 1892 on Manhattan's West Side, the club moved to Forest Hills in 1913 and built its stadium in 1923, seating around 13,500. It hosted the US national championships, and then the US Open, from 1915 until 1977, when the tournament outgrew the site and moved three miles east to Flushing Meadows.
